DAY 1: Arrival – Bangkok (Dinner included)
Check-in, orientation and a brief introduction to the plan. Enjoy the rest of day at leisure by the pool. Dinner at a nearby local restaurant.
DAY 2: Bangkok (All meals included)
Visit Wat Po, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Visit the ower market Pak Klong Talat. After lunch at a local street market take the 1/2-drive to Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand. Check-in at the hotel, time for an optional massage before heading o to enjoy a dinner cruise onboard a converted teak rice barge.
DAY 3: Ayutthaya (All meals included)
Tour of the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the major sites in the Historical Park, including Wat Na Phramen to pay respects to the Buddha with candles, incense, lotus owers and gold leaf. Late afternoon freshen-up at the hotel before taking the night train to Chiang Mai, with 2nd-class air-conditioned sleeping berths. (this can be upgraded to a flight at extra cost).
DAY 4: Ayutthaya – Chiang Mai (All meals included)
Arrive Chiang Mai in the early morning and transfer to the hotel for check-in and relax. Visit the elephant spa to learn about these magnificent animals with a chance to get up close to them, feed them and bathe them. In the evening explore the night bazaar and sample some excellent street food for dinner.
DAY 5: Chiang Mai – Phayao – Baan Dok Bua (All meals included)
Morning walk around the old city to visit the historic temples. Late morning drive to Baan Dok Bua village in the far north. Meet your host families and check in to your homestays. This is an opportunity to get to know your hosts and the other families in the community. Have dinner at the homestay with your host families.
DAY 6: Baan Dok Bua (All meals included)
After breakfast, explore Ban Dok Bua, winner of a national award for self-sufficiency and learn about their organic farming methods and self-sufficient lifestyle. Leisurely walk and then ride in the farmers’ tractor around the village and meet other members of the local community. Learn about the local handicrafts and try some easy basket weaving. Enjoy a local lunch in a garden of bamboo. Dinner at your homestay.
DAY 7: Baan Dok Bua – Phatthalung (All meals included)
Visit a secluded meditation temple in the hills and transfer back to Chiang Mai for the ight to the South. Arrive in the southern village and transfer to your hotel for Check-in and relax before dinner.
DAY 8: Phatthalung (All meals included)
Experience the richness of the Southern Thai culture. Learn about the making of traditional Pon drums, shadow puppets and the magni cent costumes worn for the ancient Manhora dance. Have lunch at the Bamboo Garden and learn about the cultivation of this amazing plant and the many uses to which it can be put. Afternoon boat trip on the lake and visit a shing village to learn about the way of life local shing communities.
DAY 9: Phatthalung – Koh Sukon (Breakfast included)
Set o by road for the 1 and half hour drive to the pier, then take the short ferry crossing to Koh Sukorn. Take a local tuk tuk to Resort and Spa and check in. Enjoy some relaxing time on the beach and swimming in the beautiful warm waters.
DAY 10: Koh Sukon (Breakfast included)
Day at leisure to enjoy the beach, having massages, eat yummy food.
DAY 11: Koh Sukon – Trang/ Phuket (Breakfast/Lunch included)
Depart mid-morning and transfer to Phuket for your flight back to London. The transfer will take about 5 hours including a stop in Trang for a quick lunch. End of services at the air-port.
