ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL DAY

Buongiorno, welcome to Bologna! You will be met at Airport Arrivals, by your chaperone.

A quick 20-minute drive to your accommodation, your chaperone with help you check in and do a room orientation. Here you can have some time to unpack and relax before you meet again to run through your holiday itinerary one more time together.

Once you are ready, you will head out into the city for a tactile city tour including the San Luca, a fascinating basilica on the top of the hill, connected to the city center by the world’s longest portico.

The day is then finished off with dinner in a traditional local restaurant.

 

Journey time: pick up from Bologna airport, driving time 20 minutes (10 km)

DAY 2: MEDIEVAL CITY TOUR, FOOD MARKETS & COOKING CLASS

Your chaperone will meet you at the hotel ready for a lovely traditional breakfast in your hotel.

After you have finished, you will walk into the city centre for a Medieval city tour including a visit to Santo Stefano’s “the seven churches” and the World’s oldest university and vibrant, surrounding neighborhood.

You then continue the walk around lunchtime towards the vibrant local food markets in the Quadrilatero including local food tasting in one of Italy’s oldest pubs, Osteria del Sole

After a rest a freshen up in the hotel, we end the day with a home cooking class with fresh egg pasta, learning about Bologna’s specialties, either tagliatelle, tortellini, or lasagne. This is with a real Italian Mamma, who will teach you all her tricks and tips for making the best Italian dish. You won’t go home hungry!

DAY 3: BOLOGNA INSTITUTE FOR THE BLIND

After breakfast, we go to the Piazza di Porta Ravegnana and start the climb of the Tower Asinelli – an almost 100m tall, 800-year-old structure with 500 steps. 
Following a traditional lunch, we fill the afternoon with a special visit to one of the preeminent schools and research centers in the world for the education of the blind; the Tactile Painting Museum of Ancient and Modern Art, Museo Anteros affiliated with the Cavazza Institute for the Blind in Bologna. The Museo Anteros is the first museum devoted to the translation of two-dimensional paintings into relief sculptures that can be used as part of a didactic and tactile learning experience for blind and visually impaired students and visitors to the museum.

After a rest a freshen up in the hotel, we end the day with a typical Italian dinner in a local restaurant.

DAY 4: MODENA & DEPARTURE DAY

After breakfast, we will help you check out of your accommodation and do a final room check.

Once you are ready you will go for a day out in Modena where you will visit a famous balsamic vinegar vineyard and learn the complex process of its making and enjoy a tasting session.

The day is then finished off with a visit in the afternoon to the famous Ferrari Museum with a tactile tour and optional F1 simulator.

Then the time has come to say, Arrivederci Bologna! We will drive you to the airport. Airport assistance will then help you through the airport and onto the plane for your journey home!

We can complete the booking form for you over the phone or by email. Deposit is 30% of the total and can be paid by bank transfer or credit card.

BALANCE & DAY PLAN

The last payment is required 12 weeks before the departure date. 3 weeks before departure, you will receive the suggested packing list and your draft day plan.

PASSPORT & VISA

We provide all the visa information upon booking.

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Each participant must have their own travel insurance.
